I just had the first service (500 mile) performed on my brand new 2003
    ZZR600.

The service was basically just an oil change and valve clearance check.

The initially quoted cost was $200.

The service manager called me and told me I was misquoted, it would actually
    cost $360.

When I went to pick the bike up the bill was $400.

Break down was $24 for oil and filter, $14 for supplies, and $360 for 5
    hours labor.

    I suspect I was royally boar-hogged.

Can anyone tell me what this service should cost?

    Thanks in Advance.

For anyone interested the bike was purchased and serviced at Pete's Cycle
    Company in Bel Air, Maryland.

    A $10 oil filter, a $7 gallon jug of Shell/Mobil/Chevron 15W-40 diesel
oil, a $50 genuine Kawasaki workshop manual, and a small complement of
    tools, $50.

About $120 and a Saturday's worth of your time, in other words.

You have a huge advantage over a mechanic- you can afford to take the
time to do the job right.

My guess is there's about a 90% chance they didn't even take off the
cam cover and actually check the clearances, since they sound like
    a bunch of dishonest c*nts.
