hi all I own a 96 zzr1100 its a top bike but it gives me a sore back I think
its the angle I am sat at with the bars am considering risers ( they only
raise bars by 1 inch 25 cm)but don,t know anyone who has tried them or
thinking of putting different bars on like gtr bars if they fit any one got
any other suggestions or ideas would love to know about it otherwise I,ll
get a st 1100 xj 900 gtr 1000 or bmw as the sore back is giving me the
    shits
    thanks in advance Gary

They might not help, as there's still just as much of a hugeness of tank
to reach over to get to them.

One question; do you wear a back protector when you ride?

The ones with the waist girdle straps serve to brace your back and stave
    off fatigue.

What ends up hurting; your upper or lower back?

Don't knock the gut it sat on the tank all the way from Melbourne to Alice
Springs and return and Melbourne to Brisbane and back with no sore back. It
also helps to be 6' 2".

  5. Ride everywhere while pulling at least a 1" wheelie.
    Cost: zero.

Or--sell my CB750 for Transalp with higher bars.
    And a higher seat.
End result--I'm still uncomfortable, but now I can't reach the ground
    either... ;-)
....so I bought a lower seat...

Raising the bars by 25mm has a much greater effect your posture than you might
imagine. You must consider the rake of the steering too. Raising the bars
will also move them closer to the seat, so a 25mm riser will have a much more
significant impact on your body position in the seat than you may imagine.
About a 33mm change in the ZX12R bars made a huge difference to the riding
    posture.

You say elsewhere that your back gets sore around the shoulders. From my own
experience (no medical influence whatsoever) I found that putting risers on
the bike reduced pain at the lower back and wearing a back protector reduced
pain in the upper back/shoulders region for me.

If I were you I'd go with a back protector first and see what effect that
has. At about $100 it is the cheap alternative and also has other benefits.
Risers will be more expensive because not only do you require the spacers but
you'll also need longer brake lines. At current exchange rates the Helibars
kit costs about $520 for the ZZR1100.

X-No-archive: yesRod Tingate in [damn; somewhere East-North-East of Melbourne] used to make
    all kinds of different handlebars.
There used to be a bloke advertise in AMCN who made a few different-height
alloy-bars specifically for the big Kwakka but I can't see his ad in the
    issue I have here.

Considering a set of Goodridge stainless lines would be $300-ish that's
    pretty good value.

thanks nev so you put risers on I take it? the helibars come with longer
brake lines from what I can gather and are sold by Mick hone in melb for
    $650. Change over for a 96 xj 900 about $1500 don,t sound like a good change
over price to me. so may look at helibars or risers / back protector

I dunno ... $1500 is pretty good for an XJ, I think anything else
they throw in is a bonus.

    http://www.braidedhoses.com.au/

    they all have different prices

the price above was about a year ago from either slacks creek , but 99% sure
it was the southport outlet in QLD

take your old and they make a new set the same

you pay for the fittings and the length of hose you require
