ZXR400 Camchain part 2

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mr. Fantastic, Jun 4, 2005.

  1. For those that don't know I've been getting a rattle on my bike at 4-5k
rpm, which turned out to be a loose camchain. I've replaced the
tensioner and this seems to provide decent pressure on the chain at the
back of the engine, but it's still pretty slack at the front (other
    side of the crank).

The chain guide on both sides seems firmly fixed and I don't know of
any other camchain tensioners on the ZXR, anybody have any (useful)
    ideas?

  3. The front run is the one that takes the drive. As soon as you run the
engine the slack will be transferred to the rear and the tensioner will
    take it up.

  4. Dunno. The setup is different to that described in the manual for the H
model, and the manual for the L model (mine) seems to be missing the
    relevant pages.

  7. Ah, I did wonder if something like that might be the case but didn't
want to risk it in case I was wrong.

    Cheers TOG.
