ZX9R + Full titanium Akrapovic...

  1. Don't half go. Much quicker than the standard system with a race can.
Quite a surprise really. I wonder how much BHP it makes at the rear
    wheel?

  2. I would say that is about right. It makes it nice and lively.

Z1000 barrels and pistons with flowed ZX-9R head and properly dialled in
standard cams, mated to a full Akrapovic system and carbs set up on a
dyno will do almnost as well at much less money. Muzzy parts are
prohibitively expensive, gen Kawasaki Z1000 top end sourced from a
breakers is much easier on the wallet.

  5. I've heard nightmare stories about most of the tuning houses. I've also
heard some very good stories. But at the end of the day none of them have
the backup of the full factory R&D department.
Then you would have to uprate the suspension etc. I don't think the ZX9R
could handle 165 BHP very well. After market forks and swinging arm etc.

I was advised against Ohlins springs in my 9R by Harris. They said I
should be looking for lighter ones, not the 10% heavier ones that Ohlins
    supply.
I'm going to see how I get on with the rebuilt Tokico 6 pots before
throwing any money at 4 pot Sumitomos.

    Watch this space.

  7. You're not a bloater though are you?

This Lozzo is very close, but that Bear is far away...

I'm more of a bloater than I used to be. I have finally gone over the
    long awaited 11 stone mark.

  10. I was thinking more of flex than actually snapping.
I'm sure the standard pots will work properly once Lozzo sorts them out.

  12. It does say big bore kit as against 4 off 4mm oversize pistons and rings.
So that should include the bore and honing.

It would mean either making new yokes, because the 9R has conventional
forks, and the R1 has USDs, or modifying the R1 yokes to fit the 9R
headstock. You'd have to work out the trail and stuff like that if the
offset on the yokes was different between the two. Once you've done the
conversion you then have the hassle of springing/damping the forks to
suit the different weight bias of the 9R as opposed to the lighter R1.
For what benefit you'd get for the cost it'd be cheaper to go and buy a
ZX-10R and have less weight and shedload more power to play with.
There are plenty of good front ends in breakers, from stolen recovered
write offs and bikes with cosmetic damage. They come at a premium price
    though.

Why don't you just buy a GSX-R1000 instead?
