    Hi,

I have decided that it's time to spend the expected tax dollars and
maybe "some" saving and buy a new bike. For a while now I have been
contemplating a good bike to replace my Falco with.

Basically I want a sport bike that I can also semi-comfortably tour
with (as done this weekend with JL). Oh, and my girlfriend has to sort
of fit on the back as well.

The ZX-12R looks like the ideal candidate to me so far.

Any advice and espicially opinions on the ZX-12r woudl be highyl
    appriciated!

    Cheers,
    Rob

First point, if you are over 5'10" forget about Hayabusa, it is 2"
shorter in the leg room dept. Great bike but not for tall / long legs.

If you are after a road friendlier version go the A models better suited
to road miles and can stick it to R1's etc in real world conditions, the
B models are ZX9's with shit loads more power, hard, fast and sharp.
I did 25000 k's on A model, lots of miles took it from Cairns to Tassie,
road all the winding roads I could find. Mates had R1's and GSX1000 and
929 Blades, all preferred the ZX12 when the riding was long and fast,
still the quickest from Talbingo to Adaminaby , only time the ZX
couldn't cut it was track days, but look out on main straight at PI. it
was really honking when you got to turn one.
I had a b Model for 2 months (loaner) great fun but much more tiring to
ride. I'm in my 40's so a younger rider probably wouldn't suffer from
    "fatigue" as I do.

Thats my experience, take it or leave it.

BIG MINUS is rear tyre consumption, the best I did was 5000 K the worst
was 1200k's. The new pilot power seams to be the best , I've heard
    8000k's from some punters.

    Regards

You swapped the 'busa for a ZX12 though didn't you ? Do you like the ZX
    better than the eye-abuser ?

They even wrote a song about paul being suzi or sue (same diff reall :)
which goes some way to explaining his (occasional) grumpiness...

didn't say they would, said it was not great for tall / long legs, but
busa owners are always touchy about ZX12,

    Hi Mick,

Thanks for your answers. 5000km out of a back tire is not much, but I
    guess
you have to suffer somewhere for the amoutn of pwoer the bike puts out.

Do you commute on your bike as well?

    Cheers,

No I never commuted, it was a trip bike only, actually found it a bit
big for traffic, but then again I didn't ride it in cities very often
and wasn't very good at it,never overheated in traffic but the fan got a
    good work out.
I have since sold the ZX due to kids hobbies(pony club ,boring as bat
shit)but do a lot of off roading now on KLX400. but I do miss the ZX.

    Mick
P.S. be careful of Busa riders, bit touchy !!

Ouch, pony club...not even one full HP ;-)

I did have a suspicion it might be a bit bulky for commuting.
Will have to give it a try. Going to start test rides next week.

    List so far:
    - ZX-12R
    - CBR-1000RR
    - GSXR-1000 K5
    - GSXR-750 K5
    - FZS-1000 (FZ-1)

Even if I don't end up choosing one of the above bikes, I will have had
    lots of fun riding them!!

    Cheers,
    Rob

after all he did ask for ZX opinions, my "facts" were takes from Slapper
Bracks opinions of the comparo between the two bikes back in AMCN 2000.
So if you are so thin skinned :
Anytime dipshit, got the photos and T-shirts and time charts to prove
what ever it is you are on about, but please, still have that calming
    cup of tea first.
