Anyone know where the short lengths of tubing on the LHS of No's 2 and
4 carbs are meant to go?

There's a set of carbs for sale on e-bay, item no: 4526159394 (sorry
for the shite link), where you can see one of the tubes I am asking
    about, poking upwards.

They seem to be part of the choke system; I'm guessing that they used
    to go to the airbox.

If that is the case, where should they go in the absence of an airbox?
Should they be connected together to balance the action of the chokes?

At the moment they're just left dangling and the choke seems to work
just as well (or rather, just as badly) as the last Z650 I owned.

    Many Thanks.

P.S. The bike is a 1977 model with what I think is a very early set of
carbs (mixture screw on the side, rather than underneath).

My very hazy re-collection is that these tubes used to link to each
    other.
