Having been for a very quick & very fecking wet bimble with Beav today
i like the bright orange Z1000. In fact, I like it a lot. I reckon with
decent luggage & what have you, it could be a very good all rounder.

Any thoughts, especially for you, Beav?

Why not a new Bandit 1250?

Yeah, that is on my list too.

Gonna have a good long think about this now, if the BMW was a right
machine i would have the best of both worlds.

Transalps I do like, Africa Twins I love, but they are getting on a
    tad.

Did 40 miles in utterloy torrential rain today on the blade in me
summer gear (apart from me jacket) & I have to say i did enjoy it once
the rain got heavy enough to wash the greasy summer shite of the roads.
The fitment of a double bubble screen will no doubt help.

Damn you BMW, damn you. Now, if KTM can come up with the goods you
    never know.

I was wondering that - or a 1200K6 if there are any left (they'd be a bloody
good price if there were). Not sure it would suit Nige's style (altho' that
seems pretty eclectic) but from where I'm sitting it's a good bike for not
much money, and I'm well pleased with mine. From the issues that Nige has
had, it has reliability (old design, glitches sorted) and a proven
bulletproof motor. It's comfy and it looks like a real motorbike if you're
a 1970s traditionalist. Plus it handles well enough for me, and has more
power that I could ever use with my skill level. The fittings aren't that
great, but nothing that a bit of regular hands-on time and a tin of ACF50
    won't keep at bay.

  7. Even I have been musing about a new B1250. I wouldn't be interested in
an old B12, though: the new bike is such an improvement everywhere - new
engine, chassis etc - while keeping the looks and style of the old.

    That really appeals to me.

It did to me - but a hardly-used B12 at over a grand cheaper won the battle
in the dealership that day. I'm still happy!

Out of interest, what's actually wrong with them? I was under the
impression that they were not bad.

Having looked at Beav's Z1000 over a number of brews, I quite like it.
By the way it kept up mostly when I was having a play down towards BOSM
it appears to handle and go.

The new (06) 10R was revised in a number of areas, but I don't regret
getting the 05 model. Are there any specific faults with a Z1000?

  14. Mechanically, there shouldn't be. Engine is effectively a ZX9R lump,
    putting out less power.

I'm a bit biased Nige, so everything I say about it should be regarded as
nothing more than an advertisement for Kwaka.

Suffice to say I think it's fucking magic and I'm not looking to buy
anything else, nor will I be for the foreseeable future.

Front discs are SHITE though. Mine need renewing and the bike's only done 14
    and a bit thou.

Oh, and it was me what painted it and while I'm at it, thanks for the crash
    bungs.

Have you got any figures on sales of the Zed compared with sales of other
    litre capacity nakeds?

and that the new model has
How does revising a bike make its predecessor something to steer clear of?
The litre sportsbikes get revised every 1 to 2 years and the Zed has been
untouched since 03. The new engine produces less power than the one it
replaces and the new frame is marginally less stiff (or marginally more
wobbly, depending on your outlook) and neither "revisions" make it go and
quicker or corner any better. I've ridden both, you've not ridden either as
far as I'm aware, but I'm sure when you *have* ridden either one, your
    opinion won't change.

Exactly what I asked him today while we were out.

The ONLY thing I'm not 100% happy with is the front discs going "off" as
    soon as they have.

I've never met another Zed owner who doesn't feel the same., but more
importantly, my wife thinks it's the dogs too. She'll probably shit herself
when she realises it's mine though.

Just thought I'd point out there's a new Nitro helmet (N250-VX) in
bright orange that'll go nice with that bike.
