    In bright Orange.

The price for new that I've been given is €9600 OTR. I like the riding
position as it's similar to my GSX14. The colour is, er, something
    though.

    Opinions please?

Seems the days of bikes being cheaper in France have gone, then?

UK price is much the same, plus 0% finance and a £500 voucher for other
    stuff. http://www.phmotorcycles.co.uk/bikes/kawasaki-z1000.html]

    Oh, and 125bhp in black.

    I've got an 06, A6 model. Silver...

It's good but there are a few niggles. Urban fuel consumption is dire
    - low 30s at best. I hate not being able to turn the lights off, the
handling is good but it's a bit ponderous (well, dur) and it tends to
bog down from a standing start - very hard to get a clean, fast
launch. That could probably be sorted with a dyno and a Power
Commander, but it annoys me that I should have to faff about with it
    to make it work properly.

Otherwise, great. Fast, comfy, oodles of power, looks nice.

I must say I've never been (that) bothered by this.

The Wing has perma-lighting, being Canadian.[1]

I've only ever turned the lights off on the Blackbird was when the
battery was on its last legs.

The CBX[2], however, is another matter entirely.

[1] Which, considering the load all those lights place on the battery,
is not that far short of bonkers, imo.
[2] Now awaiting a proper Rickman rack. Top lardy tourer fun to
    follow.

    Bad form post:

Oh and also on handling. The A6 is a bit rubbish at low speeds - the
suspension is a bit too stiff at the front, I think and it tends to be
a bit....jiggly, for want of a better adjective. I think this is
something that's been addressed on the newer model.

I'm not convinced that daytime lights are always a good thing.

    Ooo 'eck.

Is the CBX going to be the weapon of choice for this years Chimay beer
    fest?

Should the alternator stand up to early testing, then that is the
    plan.

It is, however, not my plan to treat any Slovenians to the sight of
    the old beasty.

I never thought that they were cheaper, TBH.
Hmm, this is the ABS version though. I'm tempted to pay the extra €1000
just to have it in black.

True, but there's only 19BHP difference. Would that really make a
    difference?

Bad form, etc, but apparently the restriction is easy to remove, as
it's something in the injector that stops the throttle from being
opened too much. Does that sound right?

You'll not miss it because you're used to riding bikes that have been
neutered. I'd be mightily pissed off if I lost 19bhp off any of my
    bikes.

You're going on the clique trip then?

We really need to decide what we're doing for holidays this year and
then book something in the near future. Things might become clearer in
a couple of weeks and then we can sit and poke fingers on maps and
pretend nothings so far away that it's too far iyswim.

That's the plan - though there are many obstacles that may spring up
    twixt now and then.

    The new Zeds are minging.

They may be better than the '04- models, but they've fallen out of the
ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

    IMO, of course

I'd owe about 2bhp if 19 got lost from my SR.

They've got less power than the '04 models and the '04's have a much more
balanced look about them. The new ones are a bit "guppy" looking and the
    cans just destroy the looks.
And a good opinion IMO :)
