I did a very stupid thing - on the plus side, I've learnt from it. But on the downside, I'm still looking at 2 more weeks before I can get back on the bike. I went to Greece to shoot a mate's wedding (or a mate at his wedding, I can't remember the original brief so I just took photos). That's not the stupid thing. The really stupid thing was renting a scooter on the island of Amorgos. I ended up following said scooter down a gravel / asphalt road for a while after falling off of it at about 20km/h. Thankfully we were going so slowly when it binned, but I dropped a bike with my wife on the back, and I really don't feel so good about that. Had we done the same thing in London, I would have been wearing all my gear and walked away without a scratch. As it is, I have one broken bone in my right foot, a load of gravel rash of which a small part is infected despite the anti-biotics and my wife has bruising to her fingers and wrist (thank gawds for all the skydiving falling down training - that kept my hands intact). The lid kept my brain bin intact through three impacts with the tarmac so that was a big plus! When we got back to the UK the following day, we went to the A&E but so far over the course of a week, we've only been seen by one doctor for around 5 minutes. 3 different nurses have typed at us for varying lengths of time, and it finally took my local practice nurse to actually notice anything wrong - which is about usual. It's just a pity I can't get anyone to look at my head or my foot where the real pain is, but I guess I'll live. The moral of this story is that I should have been wearing gear. From now on, I'll never be found on a motorised two wheel device without at least gloves, boots, a lid and at least some kind of abrasion resistant top. Lemming falls down - fancy that...
