With lids, a non-jbexvat space saver is to nail the lids to the
underside of the shelf. The idea being that the jars can be screwed up
into the lids leaving the top surface free for even more tqt. Trubble
is, the jars soon migrate back to standing on the shelves 'cos:

A: you can't remember which of the slightly different sized lids each
    jar fits, or

B: you do find one that seems to fit but, once you turn away it falls
out 'cos it was the wrong lid, or

C: you just CBA to put them back.

  2. What you have there is an air pump for a fish tank - the 'metal disc'
and 'Mamod' bits gave it away.

I have a smashing, huge collection of assorted unused/used/rusty/shagged
nuts, bolts, and other strange fasteners - W, BSF, UNC, UNF, Gas, Metric
coarse/fine etc etc etc, and they are all mixed together in several
claggy, greasy lumps in several large unsuitable containers, whose
    bottoms are rotting.

  4. As you weave and wallow your way round the backroads you can look down
fondly at your oil-covered boot and bless the day you discovered the ol
    GS magic.

Many apologies, I had hit send before I realised this was cross posted
    to you sensitive types ;-)

I've spent far too much time around these rufty tufty bikers for my
    liking ..

    Cheers

    Paul.

We're always open to suggestion, as long as it doesn't hurt you.
Can we get chips with it?

And the GS550 looks *so* much nicer now :)
Can't say the same for the XS250...

I'm about to be banned from the new underground carpark at
work until I sort out the leaks. Unappreciative philistines.
19" tyres don't come in any other sort.
and again when the black box breaks.
....and some of us ride SOBs because it's all we can afford
without going on the never-never (although HP repayments
might be considerably less than my monthly spares bill).

One of those overtook me on the M4 this week, alongside it was some plastic
    clad modern 600 sprotsbike.

The thin-ness of the SOB's tyre when compared to the modern machine was
    quite remarkable.

I always have a giggle when I see huge great big 6 cylinder CBX1000s,
with their 120 section rear tyre.

I have a small 6oz brass mallet I've never actually found a use for.

I stopped and picked up what I thought was a set of Mole grips lying in
the road, once. They weren't Mole grips, I have no idea what they
are, and I've never used them for anything.

Probably. But not in the road. (I suspect they fell off a builder's
lorry. My habit of screeching to a halt to pick up stuff lying
in the road drives my wife crazy - she think's I'm going to get
run down for a £1 black plastic builders bucket.)

Laybys (laybies?) can be a good source of tools, and I was once sorely
tempted by a builder's stepladder that was lying in the middle lane of a
    motorway (called police instead). :)
