You should never own a bike you can't pick up

  1. So I am ok with the GS then.

Silly really, I went to put it on the centre stand to oil the chain and
realised it wasn't stable and let go of it while I was looking for the
side stand and not finding it.

Hey ho, it only looks like it is an offside mirror and I was on me way
to Sopers for some brake seals and stuff anyway. I might even have
something that will fit in the shed, I'll have a look later.

Senile maybe but I am still quick enough to remember to let go when the
thing falls away from me so me back is all right.

I dunno about that but the lack of a mirror has made quite a difference
to the bike. For a start it goes loads faster. When I was out this
afternoon it was flying along it was, almost all of it's own accord.

The effect on the "hands off" handling is quite noticeable too. It is
just about unbalanced enough to want to climb the camber at high speeds
    rather than fall of it.

I am ashamed to say that on the last 3 occasions I have tried to haul the
Zephyr on to it's centre stand I have not had the strength.

There must be a knack to it.

It was a kin sight less effort to pick up the GS than it ever is to put
    it on the centre stand.
There is. Although I had actually got the thing on the centre stand ok,
it is just that the ground there is rammed hardcore and the bit where
one side of the stand was resting was more rammed than hardcore and it
started to go over. I rescued it, took it off the centre stand, went to
put it on the side stand prior to sorting out a solid bit and let go
    instead.
