  1. Funny, that, because when I read about the proposal to buy off the
    Afghan chieftains to keep the buggers quiet, I immediately thought of
    Kipling too:

    "It is always a temptation to a rich and lazy nation,

    Kipling really said it all, a hundred years ago. Shame nobody today
    reads him.

    While all the idiots were braying about it on Question time last night, and
    there were some *incredibly* stupid people in the audience, nobody thought
    to say NORN IRON. It's exactly what was done with the Shinners rather than
    hunting them down and exterminating every last man woman and child.

    Yeah it isn't such a good idea at all ;o)
