You seem like an intelligent bloke so I can't really believe you think the
BNP are a real problem or worthy of more than a few seconds of media
protest.

 

If you have an itch, do you ignore it, let it fester and slowly infect
your entire leg - or do you have a scratch and fix the problem before it

I don't. I think they deserve to be ignored, and I'm happy to oblige.

My point was simply that the appeal in watching Question Time, with
the BNP participating, can only be the same as in watching a fight,
given there will be equally little political debate.

Which will be a shame. Rather than have an hour of:

"You're racists"
"No, we're not"
"Yes, you are"

ad infinitum, it would be better (IMO) to keep the questioning as close
to the normal format as possible. This way, people wil be able to see
exactly how little detail they have on "real" policies.[1]

[1] Of course, if they *do* have policy detail, then it could backfire!

I rather think it will be the biggest test to date of Mr Dimbleby.

Griffin is a slightly amiable buffoon type who will stay clam and smiling,
But how carefully will the audience be vetted.
