You fucked up when you tried to get somebody in trouble with their
company because you didn't like taking stick. Once you'd chosen that
route rather than just taking it on the chin or replying on usenet you
lost any respect you might have deserved and from that point onwards
you became (imo) just another loser.

I don't really care if you say I'm stupid or claim I'm a member of
some imaginary clique because I'm happy in the knowledge that I'd
never drop down to your level.

    Uh Huh
Bit of a SOH failure and failure to note the context of the post there

Several steps too far. That was deeply unpleasant, unwarranted, and
    totally, *totally* uncalled-for.

I'm actually quite embarrassed to admit to thinking he was a decent
sort of bloke before his posts over the last few weeks.

What he said. Hog, three people whose views I would hope you have some
respect for have said that they think you've gone way beyond "banter"
here (in large part, I am sure, because of who the abuse was aimed at).

I hope you will apologise to him (in private if you prefer).

    Kenny Everett >< Benny Hill

Rough humour is a two way street and we like it that way.

I'm quite sure PC knows I don't have the slightest issue with him and found
him a perfectly charming fellow in person. And nobody could ever imagine
that I have reservations about other folks "preferences".

I can't find the humour bit.

That was out of order Hog.

The day rough humour and having a good natured pop becomes a one way street
I'll still go up the wrong way.

I seem to manage taking people prodding me quite inaccurately as some kind
of far right opinion holder in perfectly good humour. Though it becomes ever
    so slightly tiresome.

Why people who know me perfectly well think I would have a proper go at or
suffer a SOH failure with someone like PC escapes me.

ogden's made a similar remark in a reply to me earlier, so I wouldn't hold
him up as a role model

Based on the type of work I have done over the last 4 years I have become
accustomed to such remarks and they have little effect upon me, registering
somewhere along the lines of fat Welsh ****.

I don't know Paul IRL but based on his past comments on here, I would
imagine he would be deeply insulted by that remark. I know there are no
rules here but the remark crosses the boundary between an offensive retort
to a cheap joke and something very nasty.

Stop being such a sensitive flower, it doesn't suit you.
FFS, you come accross in text as a 'far right opinion holder'.
Personally, I don't think you were trying to have a go at PC.

The only SOH failure here is yours as that comment/observation was below
    the belt.

As much as I don't want to say it, you owe him an apology.

The problem here is that your comment didn't come across to anyone as
    being good natured.
Sometimes you have to accept that you've gone over the top and
apologise. Don't claim wrong context because nobody will believe you
and all you'll do is come across as an even bigger fool.

That was a comment on the paranoid attitude of a government agency
thinly veiled as borderline homophobic slander, thankyouverymuch.

And do you think he was being vindictive?
    well indeed....
Wrong. Paul has met me IRL and knows I like him perfectly well and live in a
very broad minded church so that's bollocks.

Count me in with those. Hog - your comment was downright insulting, no
matter how humourous you intended it to be, or what context it was in -
not just to Paul, but to his friends as well.
