    Offensive to jolly people.
    It isn't? Bugger.

Bollocks is it. It's offensive to nobody except for the narrow minded,
those who lack a sense of humour, or modern day Mary Whitehouses.

So **** them (but not up the arse).
Whatever it is, at least it ain't Jazz FM.

  3. A while ago after my move to Norfolk I was looking for a project and was
offered a Ford GT40 kit car rolling chassis. Body in primer plus wheels
and tires Renault gear box, in fact everything except the engine. It was
mostly in T chests. The guy wanted £3K for it and I thought: don't rush
into things look around for the best buy etc. After it got sold (VERY
QUICKLY) I realised that it was the best buy and wish I
    had...................

  4. Corsas and Micras have four - in fact, the 16v Micra lump is (IMHO) a
deliciously sweet little engine, even in 1.0 form (the Doctor's). I'm
told the 1.3 is just as smooth.

I think the Daewoo Matiz has a three-cylinder lump. Daihatsu also used
    one in the Charade.

  5. Wrong. He rang up to see if he could flog you a new car, and was going
to offer a decent p/ex on the 'Bus ;-)

  6. Four cars, two winners, and two absolute lemons. No prices for guessing
    which is which.

  7. I remember a Clarkson prog where he was saying things like £10k for a
service on a Miura or Countach up to £25K for a service on a Maclaren
    F1.

    Corsas also have a 3 cylinder 1.0 12v model.

  9. He can't have it, he hasn't been a good enough.

I'll keep it for him instead.

  10. The above refrain is becoming every bit as tired as 'I was just trolling!',
or 'is that a whoosh, then ??'. If you think for a few seconds, and if
you're honest, you'll see that had the above been written by someone else,
about me, it'd have elicited the usual round of back-slapping and manly
cries of 'yeah, right on, mate !'.

I really have no reason to be 'bitter' towards Champ, as he's done nothing
other than lob a few backhanded jibes my way. I went to help him once when
he broke down, and I'd go again, if he asked.

That being said, I do (and have for a while) see him as a fundamentally
superficial bloke. I'm willing to bet six months wages, that I'm not the
only one on here who is of that opinion.

  11. If that's the one with the concertina tube that goes from the boot
through the centre of the passenger compartment so you can put your skis
inside the car.........They go like sh*t off of a shovel.

    I'd say only one lemon.

There's some very nice versions of the Thema.

I prefer the R34 over both, but then they're mega money by comparison, so an
R33 is the realistic favourite for me.

They're very cheap and nasty inside, and I don't think you'd get one
under 10k unless it had a high mileage. My brother has one and after
driving it a couple of times, I'd buy a new Golf GTi.

You weren't being bitter towards Champ, however you are bitter about the
way many of UKRM react to your posts. Think about that for a moment.

It's something a lot of UKRM play up to, but so do you, even if you
    don't consciously realise it..
No, you're not. If you read his other posts he was alluding to exactly
    that.

But, people who appear superficial aren't completely superficial, and
those that don't appear so, well they sometimes are.

That's the great thing, plus *everyone* is a **** up in their own way.

    Marvelous, eh?

The Polo/Ibiza/Fabia comes with a couple of 1.2 litre three cylinder
    engines.
The 6 valve version is terminally slow , but the 12 v one is surprisingly
    decent.

    (The Older Gentleman) burbled:
Favoured of many driving schools, like the one I used earlier in the
year, or BSM - all their cars I've seen in Carlisle are Corsas. Is
there some irony in GM's use of that name?

As a glorified shopping cart I'd imagine it does a fine job.

I'd not entertain one for motorway work, but it's one less set of valve
clearances, a cheaper service, and a warmer engine on a short run. That
    surely has it's place too.

IIRC, it's powered by a Suzuki lump, as seen in such noddy'esque delights as
    the Alto (1).

If you're at all familiar with Whitstable, you'll be familiar that it has a
rather large hill you have to climb, if leaving the town in a southerly
direction... and if continue in that general direction towards Canterbury,
the whole route is populated with hills and dips.

So... when a mates Rover 800 Sterling died unexpectedly in the middle of
Whitstable, what did he use to tow it back to Canterbury?

His mums Corsa 1.0... and it actually did quite well - to my knowledge it's
still on its original clutch some two years after the event, even though it
has suffered both this, and been at the hands of woman from day one of its
    existence.

    (1) I used to have a 1985 Alto 850cc, or thereabouts, triple. Two speed
auto... It was actually quite fun, in a 'well at least I don't have to use
    this everyday', kind of way.
