Ooh ta. I'm quite a fan of Mazdas (and Jap cars generally). I'll
    have a look.

I must admit that the Scooby bug is biting, tho...

My bruv has one as a company car.

Bit of a tart's handbag, really.

Perfect for you - in that respect. :)

I found there was less headroom than quite a few other cars[1] -
including my vertically challenged mundaneo - and the seats were
bloody uncomfortable. New car with seats that felt as bad as the 9
year old ones in my mobile skip (mundaneo).

BTW, can anyone point me at a car with good headroom - I've run out of
ideas. I'll end up wit a van or an old chelsea tractor at this
    rate....

Older and cheap are my criteria.

[1] What is it with Mazdas - All the cars (as opposed to the minivan
things) seem to be designed for people with a max height of 5'9".

And now to start another argument , isn't the Mazda 6 based on the same
    floorpan as the mondeo?

The UKRM disease of recommending one's own ride is alive and well.

  10. I dunno - but I know the Saab 9000 is the same basic car as the Fiat
    Croma[1]

    Phil.

[1] We had one of those - not a bad car apart from the bits that kept
falling off. And the handling was immensly improved by putting two 55kg
bags of cement in the boot.

    There's a 2001 Mondeo Estate 2.5 V6 Ghia X with 42K on autotrader for
8K. Dunno about fun to drive, but at least it won't be slow as chuff.

Brand new Smart? My carpet fitter has one, and prefers it to his BMW
    530 and his E-type.

    So you're saying you wouldn't buy a Skoda /because/ it's a Skoda?

If I had 14K to spend on a car it would go on a Jaguar 'S' type or, if
    pissed enough, a Mk X or 420G.

    Dah well obviously.

How about a nice big van that you could put a small motorcycle endurance
    racing team in?

    What a singularly unexciting prospect.

Not quite - more because of the image that it presents, and hence
    reflects on me.

I'm not trying to defend myself here - it's a terrible, terrible
thing, but at least I realise how I am. The moment came when my
previous company car (which was only a Nissan Primera, anyway) was
being seen to, and I was lent some awful tiny 3 cyclinder thing.
Can't even remember what it was now (Corsa? Micra?), but it hit me
like a stone that I didn't want to be *seen* in this car.

You could well be right. Have they been out long enough to be down to
that price, tho? <wanders off to check autotrader>

  19. The above doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Even if you hadn't written
it, your 'image' on here, and on the few occasions I've met you, are
exactly that. The hairstyle, the ego, the inability expressed only a few
days ago, to comprehend my score on that 'EQ' test...
