Details are simple: We meet, drink, eat and have fun. Just get there.

Better stay tuned to the dago group. As a tradition there is by mid april a
flame about what to do for the Grand Yearly Meeting although we all know
what we want to do and what we will eventually do.
That is a challenge, I know we can get near you.
Improve pronounciation, but be forewarned that our swearing skills are high.

heh, I thought after Madrid last year that Andalucía would be bad, but I
managed to understand them OK. Takes a little getting used to though.
Half the time I couldn't work out if they were being formal or informal.

  3. And quite a few of them (Celts) ended up in Britain. Supposedly.

And then Wellington returned the gift several thousand years later :)

  5. Seems to me that there's a ukrm subscriber within feet of my house
about once a week and nobody pops in for a cup of tea.

    Popular, ain't I?

  6. They can't pronounce the S at the end of a word, although it's said
that there is a slight aspiration. You'll hardly ever hear the word
"usted" down here except in business situations, oh and when the locals
are slagging off the expats we tend to be referred to as "ustedes" or
    rather "utede" or "uhtede".

Awww, don't feel so bad. I didn't know if I was going to be anywhere near
your place, and only knew that when I got back and looked up your previous
posts. As I didn't have my own transport, it wouldn't have been
    practical.

Tell you what, next time, I'll swing by and pee in your pool. Can't say
    fairer than that.

  9. An elocution aid. Was born in some film or other. I'm too young to
    remember.

AIUI a nonsense phrase coined to allow practice of the correct
pronunciation of the long "A" sound in elocution lessons. Occurs in
    GBS's Pygmalion.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's like my travels around the place for
work (e.g. Brussels this week). I'm within a sparrows fart of my
friends place, but just don't have time to meet up with them.

When darsy comes to Paris, he hardly looks me up, unless he's got
summat to flog. I suspect he's in the same boat.

Yep, I'm aware of that. But in order to refer to it in 2 simple words
as part of a usenet post, I'm happy with what I said. After all, it's
    old, and it rhymes.

*ding* I think it originated in that film too, but can't find anything
on google to back it up.

Bugger. And of course, "My Fair Lady" was based on the play "Pygmalion"
    which I completely forgot about.

You called it bollocks. It's only bollocks as an indication of where
it's likely to rain. As an aid to pronunciation it works very well.

And you called it nonsense. I say to-may-toe, you say to-mah-toe.
Which is quite true. Unfortunately some people seem to think it has some
basis in fact, as I discovered last week.
If you say so. I never used it, being a country bumpkin an' all.

Anyway, it's 17:30, so that's me done 'til Monday morning.

  19. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Domènec
Except I've never heard it used that way. Cab's clearly forgetting how
    to speak English. ;^)

"I got up at sparrow-fart", by all means (meaning very early). "Within a
gnat's cock", yes (meaning very close). But never "within a sparrows
    fart" (with or without apostrophe).
