Yes, I know they're a bit gravity prone but...

Hmm - that seat would look a bit intimidating to a um... prospective pillion
for 3 mths. Luggage?? Can't see my tent, camera gear and 5 cases of beer
    sitting pretty on the KTM.

However, directly from my early days as a kid dirtbike riding around the
bush in Wauchope... the KTM looks pretty good.

As for posing... naaaah. I'm not really in that league - perhaps if I could
    ride like you mate! :)

I'd agree Burnie - on everything he's said, the superduke is probably
    the best answer.

Panniers and a gearsack rack mate, get a trailer for the 5 cases of
beer. Can't imagine you fitting all of that on anything including a
Goldwing that doesn't have a sidecar or trailer

No but the F650 is a belt. As is the forthcoming F800 parallel twin.

    That, and it's actually a 990, not a 950, and it's fuel-injected, not
carbed, and it's got a piddly little 15L tank which it sucks dry quicker
    than a VTR1000...

....a Superduke would probably be one of the crappier options for this
sort of caper... even the 950 supermoto wouldn't be that great, as it
routes the pipes under the engine; first steeper-that-expected dropoff
from the lip of a descent, and crunch.

Nope. Great mysteries, and all that. Honda's only shaftie chook
chaser was the XLV750R, which is a very cool bike but one which
requires a certain amount of dedication.

    Unless you could the CX650.

  18. Only the F650CS city bike thing is belt the GS and GS Dakar are both chain
    drive.

  19. And heavier and less powerful, I've ridden Pats 650 Transalp, it's OK but
    no powerhouse, good bottom end.

The DL is probably the most capable of that bunch. If a 21" front wheel is
important then it's the Tranny or the GS Dakar.

How hard would it be to fit a 21" rim to the DL ? Why is the bigger hoop
    so important ?
