Nah, the real "art" is getting some idiot to part with large amounts of
money for the item you knocked-out one night while pissed.

 

And I'd have disagreed. But that's because I decide what my opinion is,
rather than relying on someone else to tell me what my opinion is.

Sure, they're great from a distance, but when you get close up you can
see just how bad they are.

 

Even Rolf Harris can paint those things better, and he's a musician.

 

Something that my local council insists on wasting money on, rather
than getting on with the badly needed repairs to infrastructure
outside Wigan town boundary.

 

While it's difficult to know exactly due to different attitudes of the
ages, when I saw his pictures I thought they were nice.

Yeah, it's society's attitudes that makes me think a cupboard covered in
concrete is not art, but shite, rather than my own attitude that it's
shite not art.

As someone who's tastes and beliefs have very, very rarely been even
similar to 'society's' I think I know why I think 99% of modern art is
shite ... because it is.

Even if you didn't, the context in which they were shown would have
had an influence. At the time they were painted, it would have been
impossible to see them without knowing that they were contreversial
modern art, whereas you would almost certainly have known that they
were something considered classic just from the way they were
displayed.

 

What's your take on Duchamp's Fountain?
