  2. I'm sure I was paying that for front tyres a decade ago. Dunno that
    I'd want $60 tyres on my car either . . .

You only buy one tyre a year for your BMW?

I tend to average one a month.

Last set of tyres for a BMW lasted me a total of 6 days.

Buy a lathe and make your own tyres out of tree stumps. They'll
    probably outlast the bike.

    Not this people!
Jodz has got a small car, a Ford Fiesta.

The tyres for that are roughly $100 each (and that's not going for
    anything special).

Even no brand tyres from K-Mart for her small car are $70 each...

Since I have no suitably-sized rims to fit them to, I expect them to
    last for many, many years.

Shortly after I bought my truck (5 years ago! time flies, eh?) I
replaced the particularly horrid 215/60R15 car tyres that were fitted
to it with four much more sensible 195/70R15 light truck tyres, for
    about $120 each.

When the rears wore down I kept the best of them to use as the spare,
moved the fronts to the rear, and bought 2 new front tyres. Those
rear tyres have just about worn out now, having done about 75,000km on
the front and 31,000km on the rear. I think I can safely say that it
    was $240 well spent.

Instead of choosing to put a $230 tyre on the front, why don't you
    choose a much cheaper tyre?
