They are fun. I got one in February.
Watch out for the "farkle" disease though :)
You will soon find yourself browsing all the accessories.
    Enjoy!

  4. Had a guy look at the blackbird today and he seems pretty keen. Another guy
coming to look at the VTR tomorrow. Only a matter of time. Looks like we are
taking it to Pemberton on the weekend for a test run.

  5. It's already started. It's got a top box, bark busters and engine crash bars.
Looking at moving the oil cooler and getting some hard panniers on it next.

Farkle disease... curse of the R1200GS owners...

I've added crash/engine bars, bash plate and madstad adjustable screen
    bracket.
Also a top box made from a $10 plastic recycling box. Hey, I was on
domestic credit hold at the time :-|
I though about moving the oil cooler, but decided that the bash plate
    gave it enough protection.
Hard panniers would be nice, but the $1k-odd for brackets and panniers
    makes it a big decision.

So you get the 20l plastic jerricans, the 1.5" wide alloy strap and
    you make your own.

  9. Bash plate is also on the list. The panniers I am looking at are 36 litre
pelican cases. Looks like I can do the whole lot for about $600 on amazon.

  14. I'll post it up once I can dig it out again. Basically the boxes from amazon
are about $150 each and the bracket is from a place I can't find at the moment.
Got the links orginally from stromtroopers iirc.

I got my crash/engine bars and bash plate from these folks:

    http://www.motorcycleadventure.com.au

and was considering the H&B pannier racks from them as well, at $331.

    $331 + 2 x $150 is about the $600 mark you mentioned.
OK, it is $31 more, but it is close :)
