Sorry if this has been posted.

In the US last year there was a recall for Road Stars within a small date
range (late 2001 to early 2002) because some transmissions were locking up
due to a small circlip breaking on one of the main shafts.

This recall has now been expanded worldwide and to include all Road Stars
manufacturered from 2001 to 2003 including Warriors. This recall is active
in Australia and I have seen a letter from Yamaha Australia to a dealer with
some basic info. If you have a Road Star in those years talk to your
dealer, if your dealer is not aware of the recall INSIST they talk to Yamaha
Australia. At the very least make sure that your details are up to date in
the owner's database, particularly if you are the second (or more) owner of
your Road Star as owners have been receiving letters in the mail.

The recall involves the complete tear down of the engine, including
splitting the cases, to replace the circlip and some other parts dealing
with the drive train. If you have ever thought about dropping in a set of
high-compression pistons, getting the engine powdercoated or anything like
that, now is the ideal time to do it.

My Road Star is a 99 model (Feb 99) and I still ride it like I stole it.
