Oh no - it's got underseat exhausts.

Anyway, who cares? Where's the performance figures, eh? That's what
counts, not what it looks like.

I think you'll find that it's quicker and more powerful than last year's
model ( which was hardly a lardy old bus).

    Yeah, right. As if.

Of course you're right - I only bought the gixxer 'cos they said it
made 10bhp more than the R1...

    Gotta love this quote:

"....and definitely targeted towards a sportier crowd"

Sportier than what ffs? The year 2003 model? Give over, please.

To some extent I must agree with you however, I would always sacrifice a
bit [1] of power for good handling.

    [1] Small degrees of bitness.

I thought the 03 model was one of the best looking sportsbikes of the last
few years, Ducatis and MVs included. It just looks all weird now, as
Spike's pointed out, there's a big gap above the rear wheel (maybe because
the swingarm bracing goes below the arm itself); and yes, the pipes are
    beyond hom.

    <bites obvious bait>

Mine's silver. And black. Actually more black than silver, now it's
got the black bagster tank cover and the black double-bubble screen[1]
    fitted.

    [1] Therein lies a tale.

I wasn't precluding handling when I said 'performance figures'.

Nice colour. That's what I'd go for.

Yamaha's design team obviously decided to take it easy this year and
just go with the flow. Personally I'm not a fan of the underseat
exhausts. They look cool on the Ducati (pre 999) but for some reason
just look daft on the CBR600RR.

From looking at the pictures I can see also:

    1) new swingarm
    2) radial brakes
    3) ram air

Two shall be the number of exhausts for a motorcycle, not three or one
or, perhaps surprisingly, 4. The number of exhausts shall be two, never
another. If it has not got cans numbering two then it is not a proper
    bike.

It matters not the arrangement, other than it shall be as close to
symmetrical as can be achieved given the vagaries of cylinder alignment
that are to be found but there shall only be two.

I suppose though this is a slash sports bike we are talking about here
and thus marketed at those who need both hands to think with and thus
one has a meagre single can to spread the noise.
