Yamaha FZR600's

  1. If it's road legal, it's worth all that and more. Depends on the bits,
but I'd have thought a decent Akrapovic (sp!) system would easily fetch
    150 sovs on Ebay.

Plastics - depends on who's crashed a bike at the time. Always worth
something, but prices vary like hell.

Wheels.... hard, because they're always worth having for a race bike,
but if the bike isn't one that's usually raced, then front wheels are
worth a bit (they get crunched in crashes) and rear ones aren't ('cos
    they don't).

    But ZXR400s get raced....

They're also one of the most popular sports 400s, along with Baby
Blades. You can *always* flog a decent ZXR Four.

  2. It's got Harris rear sets on it. £250 quid worth. Two sets of Corsa's.
The spare disks are worth a bit as well.
This is the Ex-Gower ZXR750 I've bought some replacement side plastics and
had them re-sprayed. It also has the race single seat unit. Along with a
race and road headlight fairing. Race main fairing and original fairing,
One side of which needs welding.

  4. That would be the rider, then, not the bike.

  5. **** me, and you're only asking 1200 quid for the lot?

    <Thinks>

It's nicked and ringed, folks. Don't touch it.

  9. I would say it's about 110-120 BHP Not as quick as Team-UKRM's original
ZXR. But plenty fast enough for track days. You don't have to worry about
high sides and stuff like that. Just nail it everywhere.

I've taken it to Le-mans as well, so it runs well and is reliable.

In fairness to team ukrm I think it is only right to point out that
engines are really rather low on the list of things they have broken.
Bodywork and the riders are a different matter however.

Check the exhaust thoroughly though, because they rot. Aftermarket
ones are almost nonexistent, as are spares from a breaker and OE ones
    are eye-wateringly expensive.

As others have said, the rec/reg may let go.

Older ones (at least) have an 18" rear wheel, so tyre choice may
    become limited.

    Great fun bikes, though.

Ask them how much it would cost for you to insure a 1991 CBR600FM - I'm 31
and pay £286 TPFT, with one years NCB.

Not only that, but try Carole Nash, and H&R (www.insurance2000.co.uk), as
well, as I've always found them more forgiving than Bennetts - Carole Nash
in particular, apart from only doing instalments over 4 months, seem to give
you more benefits for your money, at least they do IME.

If it's reasonable enough to insure, you can come and have a sniff round my
one if you want - pretty sure I'm going to have to get a big trailie style
bike (or if funds allow, a Bandit 1200 or similar), if I want to carry on
riding regularly due to continued aggro with my knee, that seems to be
exasparated by sprots bike seating positions demanding it be bent quite
tightly for long periods at a time.

I'm based in Kent and so are you IIRC, so won't be too much of a trek for us
to meet up if you were interested.

  13. And Hastings Direct, who are a bit skimpy on the extras (other bikes and
european cover included, but that's about it - just as well I get AA
cover with my current account) but trampled over everyone to quote me
    happy on the 7R.

But if it was a choice between a late ZXR750 or an early CBR600, I'd be
more than tempted to pay out the extra.

I'm in Cheshire mate, so a bit of a trek for me. Also with travelling costs
a little far to go to pick up a bike.

I'm aiming for a spring purchase anyway, but thanks for the offer.

I've not ridden a ZXR, but I've always quite fancied one, and I've always
quite fancied a 7R as well.

Insurance companies seem to like CBRs anyway IME - before I bought this, I
got quotes on both it, and a Fireblade - £286 TPFT vs around a grand TPFT,
it was a bridge too far considering the bike is mainly a toy for me, rather
than used for the business like the cage.

I did Kent <--> Newcastle a couple of weeks ago, in one 11.5 hour, including
a quick kip halfway back, stint.

Come to think of it actually, I was delivering to the Metro Centre... so
yes, I was in fact 'popping down the shops'.

  20. This cost me about 480 TPFT, and that's with me _still_ only having one
year's NCB. When I looked at cover for TOG's Z200, even that was going
to cost me the thick end of 300 quid, so 180 quid or so to go from a
    Z200 to a 7R will do me fine ;)
