Someone, Wrecked Ferret? used to turn up at OSM's on an FZR250-4 I seem to
recall? It struck me as a rather wonderful idea.

Olie Linsdell was still winning Manx GP races on his FZR400SP three
years ago, by a clear 13 minutes IIRC

That was Tallbloke, wasn't it? Sold it to the Bonwicks.

If you're going to get a sports 250, there's only one way to go, and it
    ain't a four stroke.

Or was it that bloke in Brighton or Hastings or somewhere, who went back
to college. Sideshow Bob? **** knows. Probably a closet northerner or
    something.

I can't remember who it was I bought it off and eventually he'll pop
up and call me a **** for forgetting but I had it for about 18 months
and sold it to a lurker.

Absolutely mental little bike that revved like **** but didn't really
    do much.
    Whatever.

Front number plate doesn't belong on that bike. They were made illegal
    from Jan 1st 1973

Had one of those as my first bike, a 1973 model that I seemingly tried
hard to destroy in the year I owned it. This is what it looks like now
following a 100% restoration by my lil sister and her eldest son:

There's a big mistake apparent in that photo that has now been sorted,
can anyone guess what it is?

Had one of those too, it also started life silver but got resprayed by
me. This was taken after I'd sold it:

It took them 2 years and was meant to be used by the nephew, but he
looked at it one day and decided it was too nice for a 16 year old to
    wreck, so bought a TS50ER.

Every day at 9-30am a young lad rides past our shop on a mint condition
1977 R regd yellow FS1E DX with L plates, and every day he rides home
at about 5-30am. It's lovely to see one being used as it should be by
someone of totally the wrong age to remember them the first time round.
The bike is from his father's era, or maybe even his grandad's.

I'm waiting for him to progress to an RS100 or possibly an RD125 twin.

That's unusual. A sensible 16 YO. But really, 2 years of work and then
    not use it?
I wonder why he has it and if he knows that 40 YOs remember them
    fondly.
Brings back memories of my GF (wife now) learning on a RS100. I had a
    CB750
at the time. What shit we used to enjoy.

    Cheers,

    Nick

It's about the only sensible thing he's done with regard to vehicles.
He now drives a beaten up tuned to the nuts R plate 1.6 Corsa that's
sprayed matt black with aerosols. Looks like, and is, a pile of shit
but has all the right goodies like big brakes and decent suspension to
    match the engine.
Most of the guys who owned them back then are now 50ish.

No-one's sussed what was wrong with my sister's restoration yet. It's
glaringly obvious to anyone who knows these bikes from when they were
first imported. Clue, mine was an earlyish one.

  19. Oh, I missed this bit.

    <Fire up picture again>

Side panel decals should say SS-50? Indicators weren't fitted to erarly
ones but were available as an option, so can't be that.
