I know Yamaha used to use it for everything ! Does anyone use it for gaskets
anymore ? Or is there a better gasket maker ?
    Thanks,

It was necessary to use the grey rubber cement packaged under the name
    "Yamaha
Bond" on the halves of engine cases to keep them from weeping oil...

If you're looking for cement/sealer, Permatex makes a "high-tack gasket
cement" (I think that's Permatex's name for it-it's in the garage right
now, so I'm not looking at it) that sealed my cam-cover gaskets quite
    nicely.

Permatex Ultra-Grey is an RTV gasket-maker that is oil-resistant. I've
been happy with it in the past, but I've never made an entire gasket out
    of it.

AFAICT, Permatex makes almost everything in the way of automotive
lubricants, adhesives, and sealants. The only trick is knowing which one
you want and then getting a store to get it for you. Ultra-grey and the
high-tack sealant both appear to be pretty common items, though.

    cement"

I used some of that high-tack stuff on a thermostat housing gasket once. It
    was
a transparent red color, and, as the name implies, it was very sticky...

Likely a different stuff then. Mine is about the color of...well snot.
It's a nasty yellowish color similar to Barge cement. It is incredibly
sticky, and my cam-cover gasket hasn't drooled since I applied it.

I used 3 Bond 1211 when I cracked open my crankcase case on the V-twin 3
years ago to update the tranny. No leaks to date. Expensive, but good for
all types of applications where you would use Permatex, etc.
