Yamaha 650 twins

  1. Did anyone here, apart from me and Bonwick, ever own one? Classic Bike
    is looking for someone who had one way back when, with a period photo.

    (See this month's issue and the pic of Champ, avec hair, and his Z650,
    for inspiration)

    I bought a Z550 once as a box of bits, sorted out the wiring harness,
    powder coated the frame, painted the tank and side panels gloss
    black[1] and then saw it all rust to nothing when my garage
    flooded[2].

    So, after a while, I got a large cardboard box, chucked everything in
    it and gave it away to someone who kept in in the box for a couple of
    years and then he passed the box of bits onto someone else.

    Does that count?

    [1]Back then, I did have an idea about how bikes worked
    [2]Sadly, I obviously didn't have an idea about plumbing 'cos the
    attic space above the garage was where the water tank lived and you
    wouldn't believe how much water is contained in a cold water tank. It
    was worse than usual 'cos I was on holiday when it happened
