A mate at work reckons there is a good deal on at Aldi at the moment for
a CCTV with either built in intercom or alarm. Quite configurable he
reckons. Beeps, or switches your TV to the camera display.

When I bought my 7R the previous owner was standing at his front door
watching me ride away with tears running down his cheeks.

    The pansy.

His mrs was making him give up riding, so it wasn't just the bike he was
saying goodbye to, it was a large chunk of his masculinity.

Maybe you could send him the photos of how it ended up looking, so he
can put an end to that chapter of his life and move on...

Which they seem to rely on rather than some nice old fashioned 'onest
    policing.

A chap I work with has CCTV at his gaff, and the cheeky fuckers asked if
he could swing it around a bit to capture a certain part of the street
know to be a youth hangout.

Next they'll be asking to lock-up crims in our spare bedrooms.

Because it was worth more in bits, at the time I wasn't even sure if I'd
ever even want to ride a bike again, and because I'm naturally more
inclined toward taking things apart than putting them together.

Fair comment. My housemate is half way through rebuilding a crashed 7R
that was far worse than yours, it will be a cracker when its fnished.

  19. Why does every Yamaha trail-bike you sell get stolen? Hmmm?

  20. Curses, rumbled.

    <Jettisons spare set of keys>

Being serious, though, it's just dirt bikes, innit? The scrotes will
walk past an R1, 10R, Beemer, MV, whatever, but grab any dirt bike they
can because (a) they're usually small and light enough to be dragged
away and (b) they can be bashed around off-road with no risk of being
    nicked.

I mean it's not like they're being stolen and ringed: there's not much
point in having a sophisticated ringing operation and using it for an
    £800 17 year-old bike.
