XT600E nicked: that didn't take long

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Nov 20, 2008.

  1. Just had a text from Donald Deasy. The XT600E he had off me...

....well, someone else has had it off him. Nicked from his brother's
gaff. They cut through two chains to take it, too.

    FFS.

    Oops.

Has he ever considered moving somewhere less pikey? ;-)
Indeed - 'anging is too good for 'em, m'lud.

This was in London, Thamesmead to be precise. A molotovs throw from the
    high security prison.

Looks like they made light work of the chain anchoring it. No sign of
the chain I had on the front.

Oops - proper shit round there, even by 'shit bits of London' standards.
A few Molotovs would be the kindest thing for that whole stretch from
Plumstead through to Gravesend... and even then it's debatable whether you
should stop there or plough on to Medway and the Isle of Sheppey.
    Tossers.

A bit extreme as a way of ducking the Elefant. Not seen a swerve like it
    since the Frankfurt Run.

Thamesmead is a fucking shithole. There's no way I'd park a bike up in
open view round there. Have you checked the marshes the other side of
    Erith?

It was in my brothers covered garage area attached to the back of the
house. You would have to come into a cul de sac to see it.

We'd both been drinking this evening so no search party allowed, might
    get stabbed he said.

Brother reckons it'll already be in the marshes if it was local scrotes.
If I can persuade him to point out a few likely places on the map I
might have a wander round tomorrow. Then again I may just cut my losses
    and do some more sightseeing.

My commiserations to the owner - however makes me
feel better already. I was sorely tempted by the
machine and saw the TOG msg quite early but I
decided that if parked outside where
I live, its life expectancy might be rather short.

    Sarff Lunnon.

CB500 it is then? I know it makes sense.

  12. Bloody hell, that estate's notorious. People keep their dentures in
their pockets as they walk around, else they'd get nicked.

"The prison of Belmarsh and the audacious, decorative and inventive
    sewage processing works "

    Sounds lovely.

  14. I did warn him that dirt bikes are a scrote magnet, but with two bloodyt
chains on it. I supposed they chopped one and just dragged the bike with
    the second in place.

Why am *I* pissed off, I wonder? Same reason as I was when the Z400 I
sold to Petrolcan went walkies: I put a fair bit of cash and effort into
    both bikes. Bah.

I think there's a short period of time after selling a bike where you
still regard it as "your bike".

They'd put CCTV up round there, only they know the cameras would get lifted
    fairly soon afterwards.

That was the first question the Police asked, was there any surveillance
    camera ?

Actually, that's rather true. I think the giveaway sign is if you
stand in the road to watch the new owner depart on it, thinking:
"Bloody good bike, that... Perhaps I shouldn't be selling it."
