    Hi all,

How many bolts hold an XT600 exhaust silencer in ?

Perhaps there are more holding it in than just the Allen's bolt in the end.
Didn't seem to want to come out.

All the local grannies will be shaking in their rocking-chairs, when I
    rocket along the street.

I wonder if leaving it out will improve performance ?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. There's just that one bolt but unfortunately, unless you remove it regularly,
the baffle will get rusted in there & be just about impossible to remove.

It'll make a hell of a lot of noise & definitely give it a bit of 'pep', much
more responsive to throttle. Many years ago I did a lot of experimenting &
found that a home made baffle using a 38mm * 125mm pipe & suitable mounting
hardware kept the 'pep' & made the noise 'almost' legal (back then anyway).

Should only be 1 screw/bolt, bus as has already been stated, it's
likely to need a big hammer and a screwdriver to break the rust seal.

Just be careful in removing it. My TT600 (same engine) has had the
baffle removed. While it does sound wicked, and give a boost to top-end
power, it will sacrifice a little bottom-end (although you've got
plenty 'o that) and may result in your mixture being a little up the
    spout unless you rejet.

As a minimum, you'll probably need to adjust your needle clip position.
