XT600 newbie - starter help

Howdy,

I have just bought an XT600 (C reg) from a friend of mine, and it has a
starter problem, it doesn't disengage (and turns if you kick the starter).

I'm familiar with a sprag clutch from a Honda NTV engine that I put in a
hovercraft, but the otherwise very good manual I have doesn't mention
the starter motor at all.

I've noticed that a lot of XT adverts boast about a starter, and get the
impression that the early ones didn't have one, so what gives? It all
looks pretty OE, but all the XT sites seem to be german or italian, so I
haven't learnt anything.

Are the internals pretty much like other bikes (2 cogs to a ring gear
and sprag clutch?), anything I should know? I'm moving house soon, so
haven't opened it up, any prior knowledge glady received.

Any good english XT sites?
