    Hi all,

How many bolts hold an XT600 exh-aust silencer in ?

Perhaps there are more holding it in than just the Allen's bolt in the end.

All the local grannies will be shaking in their rocking-chairs, when I
    rocket along the street.

I wonder if leaving it out will improve performance ?

    Thanks in advance.

    GB.

My XT550 used to pick up really well on a less than properly baffled zorst,
try replacing the airbox with a K&N on the slide carb an a short open trumpet
on the CV (It's not open enough of the time to worry about bore wear) and up
    jet slightly if necessary.

An item of clothing favoured by elderly Northerners, Paul.
It fits below the flat cap and just above the overcoat.

Sometimes a small gap is left for the insertion of cigarettes.

Not officially, nor really conciously. I'm posting from Elly's
machine while awaiting ebuyer's magnanimity in replacing my defective
PSU. The sig herein is elderly to say the least, and ICBA to sort it.

Mudguard Stratocaster doesn't have quite the same ring to it, does it?

  9. Hey, have you jumped on the "dumping-the-sig" bandwagon?

If we are talking 1990 to around 1995, it's a single bolt (and
can be a bit of trouble). For these models you can cut of some
internal plumbing once the baffle is out and then put it back,
gives less obnoxious sound and looks 100% original on the outside.
Very little or nothing real improvement, the sound may give
    some psycological boost.

My proposal for a more discreet but nice sound improvement
that will give some usefull power if combined with a rejet is
to remove the airbox "snorkel". Don't do this without the
    jetting adjustment !

I don't remember if it was a mudguard or a stratocaster, but I do
remember it had a heart of sludge and a voice like a massey furgusson...

    <shakes head>

I can't believe I'm misquoting meatloaf in UKRM. Is this really what my
    life has become?

  17. Actually, putting aside my childishness, I think I prefer the yank word.
I mean, it does muffle rather than actually silence.

I've just read a book on the history of the english language. It seems a
lot of "american" words/expressions, were actually originally used here,
but where we made changes, the yanks stuck with the old stuff. I'm
struggling to think of an example, as I've the memory of a potted plant
    - oh yes, "Fall" and "Autumn".

That is very kind of you Lord Frag of Legworthiness.

As Ebuyer cannot decide whether they have allowed themselves 5 or 14
/business/ days to make a decision on the return, or even send it back
to the manufacturer for a further 28 /business/ days - and won't even
answer email within 7 /business/ days (and there's no other means of
    comntact) ...
I might well take you up on that.
