You'd prefer that everyone visits the page rather than the download
link so that all the vulnerable Windows users pick up the .wmf file
that contains an exploit for the .wmf security hole that has everyone
in the security business so uptight right now?

At first I thought that this was just the old ad-revenue thing. Some
random guy wants people to load some ads before downloading the goods.

In fact, it's far more sinister than that. The last couple of lines
in the html for that web page contains a script called a trojan
downloader. A little bit of javascript that decripts instructions
to go off and download a 'wmf' (windows metafile, a type of picture
file that has recently be in the news because it contains a serious
    security hole)...

Anyway, this clown's web site downloads and runs the trojan, it
installs yourself in the guts of your computer, kills your virus
scanner and your web browser, then goes off on the net to do god
    only what.

If you visited this page and your virus scanner didn't stop something,
and you're running *any* version of windows that hasn't been updated
in the last week, you're infected. Fix it. Stay off the net as much
as you can until you have.

  7. Thank you for being so alert. My virus scanner (AVG) didn't complain
but Firefox did. Can we assume the e-mail address is a spoof?

    Cheers

  8. Good catch. If anyone cares, the XR400 manual is actually very good!
Very happy here. The wmf file is of course, harmless to anyone using
    anything other than Windows.

If any would like, I can download the files and host them on my server
instead (since the OP's website does actually say to give them away if
someone wants them, and that bandwidth is tight).

  9. I'm guessing he's fixed it now, as there's no sign of javascript or a .wmf
file on that page.. Either way, they're now all mirrored at
    http://offshore.pinegap.net/stuff/bikes/manuals/honda/

    Cheers,
