XR125R seat height

  1. Hi all

My son has been given an old (1983) Honda XL125R by as friend of the
    family who has migrated.

    Two questions spring to mind

    1) is this likely to require restricting for a 17 year old
    2) is it possible to lower the seat height as it's plainly too tall for him

    Thanks

Not by much. Thinner foam in the seat, lowering bike on yokes.

Do it up & flog it. It will sell very easily as 125cc trail bikes are
relatively scarce. If he keeps it then he will drop it as it is too high
for him and it is highly likely to get nicked. The high theft record for
such trail bikes will mean it will be very expensive to insure.

Use the sale money to buy something suitable for his little legs and less
likely to be nicked. This will be cheaper to insure as well, unless he goes
for an Aprilia RS125. Suzuki GS125ES with electric start & front disk would
be a good bike for a short arse. I had one :)

  3. would it have much value ?

I kind of assumed that it wouldn't be worth much owing to its age

There's a ding on the tank and the seat cover is ripped, both of which
are repairable - other than that I would say 'good condition for it's age'

Anyone out there interested in swapsies for a CG125 ?

Machine is in Derby, photos plus more detail can be supplied
