I assume you are using the card to capture an analogue signal? I'm
using firewire and it works fine with the same software.

 

I'm even having problems editing pre-captured video but I understand
from the Pinnacle news groups that's down to crap Pinnacle software.

It's the capture and handling of the analogue data and perhaps the
capture cards interface to the PC. Perhaps the automatic IRQ allocation
refusing to give the AV/DV card a unique assignment.

 

Pinnacle isn't brilliant - but that's not the fault of XP!

I had an old analogue card (TV/Radio and Composite/SVHS in) that I used
to use to capture my old VHS vids to DVD - that was a pain in the arse
under XP (and 2000) - worked OK (but only OK) under 95. In the end I
completed the job by installing Mandrake on a spare HDD - the card then
worked perfectly.

It was all down to the fact that their were no proper dirvers for the
card for 2000/XP but some enthusiast had written some stable ones for
Linux.

 

Well, so far I've had a 50% success rate; my laptop has no problems at
all. However, my home PC now has a CD_RW drive that thinks it isn't,
IYSWIM...
