As the header suggests - while riding I was slowly lowered on the rear wheel while crusing on the highway. Rear wheel chafing the wheelarches. The xj600 is pre-diversion model. I found the monoshock hinge on the center stand was torn of and peeled back. Questions: - Any history of this bike doing that more often? - How to fix? re-welding seems poor idea as metal is too thin walled, amy weaken the rest of the frame as well IMHO, somebody did this? A new frame is way to costly, a second hand frame probably has the same potential weakness - also no budget to have all parts built over to a new frame. I am thinking of making a small subframe that connects to the engine-bearing 12mm bolt + footrest bolts, and runs parallel to the former centerstand bearing tube. (12mm bolt taking up most of the load. Force distribution seems sound. Only fitting the exhaust my require some fiddling... But not good to re-invent the wheel - opinions welcome.
