I'm only 5'8" and manage it no problem. There's a woman in the ukgser
forum that is only 5'4" and rides a GS.

You can set the preload so that the bike squats quite a bit when you get
on it. I weigh 14.5 stone so ride with it on the factory setting. I can
get both feet flat on the floor on level ground.

Perhaps.. I couldn't even climb on a GS when I last tried, let alone get my
    feet down :)

TBH I don't like them very much, as mentioned elsewhere, if I were to
consider a BM, it would be a R1100S.

Weell, either your dealer or my dealer has their facts wrong, don't they?
    ;-)

Besides, the standard GS will appear before the GSA. anyway. Dealer was
telling me 2005 is likely touch-down date for a R1200GSA.
Classic; is the same with their cars, too (and Audi, also) -- they know
they've got a great product, they /know/ they'll sell it, therefore why
any need to discount it? If they don't sell it to you they'll sell it to
the next guy. ISTR when a couple of peeps on here were buying their GS',
they ended up on _looong_ waiting lists.

When I was initially enquiring, I got told by one dealer that if I didn't
have the one he had in stock, it'd be March before I got one (albeit on an
    04 plate).
Sounds about the size of it; could have had the aluminium boxes but I
ain't convinced they're what I want/need so went for the "paying less
money" option, instead. May just go for the System cases.

Umm, since, er, always. The Adventure's got a completely different seat
to the standard GS and I find it jolly comfortable, tyvm.
    Only in "the comic".
    {shrugs}

    Not bothered.
