Really, sometimes I can't stand SPEED. They've got time for Race 1 on
Sunday but won't show Race 2 until Tuesday?

If that's the case it wouldn't be the first time DirecTV can't get
their titles done consistently. One of the drawbacks of always
watching off the DVR rather than live.

    Can't you set up a manual recording? I don't rely on Eurosport's
published schedule either, so I tend to record from 10/11am local time for
    6-8 hours.

Yes, I just don't check the To Do list at the beginning of each
weekend. It irks me to have to do that, however. I shouldn't miss
recordings when my DVR offers two-clicks-to-record-the-season
functionality. Seriously, I push the Record button twice on any show
and it'll record all instances of that show, forever. If DirecTV is
offering that sort of functionality they ought to perform their due
diligence to make sure their program titles support it.

That said I've got all my motorcycle racing set up on keyword season
passes because, in the past, if I use the two-click-record option I
get EVERY motorcycle race run because the program titles all said
MOTORCYCLE RACING and didn't distinguish between series. I had to go
down to the next level of the program description to find out which
series was playing. Perhaps it's different now and I ought to review
my season passes. I've missed recordings before with this sort of
problem in the past, but it was always in the transition from one
season to the next which I can live with.

    <sigh>

Now that my rants is over I suppose I'll have to go back to manually
verifying each and every recording I want to see. Just what I want to
do with the fanciest DVR DirecTV offers. Why does everything
electronic gizmo designed to take the complication out of our lives
end up doing exactly the opposite?

Count your blessings that you have new technology TiVos. Us poor sods are
still stuck with the series 1 boxes, which despite the years that have
passed, still kick arse over any other PVR on the market. How the others
haven't beaten TiVo's interface still, I have no idea.

Haven't watched a Speed broadcast in years, find one of the several
racing torrent sites and you'll have the races DLd usually before the
Speed broadcast and in most cases 720P HD, plus you will get the Super
Sport and Super-stock races, no commercials, and the very good Jack
Burnicle and Jamie Whitham doing commentary.
