  2. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Scraggy amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
"A man who drove a motorbike at more than 151 mph on a Telford road was
today banned from driving for 40 days. Simon John Brindley, 31, of Maple
Close, Trench, Telford, was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £34
    costs."

I reckon he got off lightly.

Those ones caught on the Tingewick bypass weren't doing much more than that
(159mph?) and they got prison time.

Maybe he has no money and a large family to support or something (mitigating
circumstances?) as the sentence does seem very light.

    But it's still good :)

They were done for dangerous driving, though, not speeding.
    Aye, sounds very reasonable.

Ah hah - maybe that's the thing to remember.

JP (where is he these days?) always said never admit to DD for exactly that
    reason didn't he?

In the middle of a three year stretch for speeding.

  9. "More than" - 0.2 more than. What a waste of words.

I saw a newspaper report the other day "More than half a dozen...".

Not lightly but if I was caught doing 151mph I'd settle for 40 days
    and £200.
