    4ax.com:

Amusingly, about 6 years later, just after seeing the Duke tour by Genesis
at the same venue, there was a blizzard. The depth of snow on the roof was
so deep that the building collapsed. Unfortunately, Mr Collins had left the
    building.

Bay City Rollers with my big sis in 1975. All the way to Mallory Park
from Bedford up the A5 on the back of her FS1E[1][2] and they didn't
even play before leaving in a helicopter...the tartan-bedecked
    jockanese cunts.

[1] She did remove the L plates first
[2] Later to become my FS1E

****, now I'm questioning the date. I'd have been 13/14 in 76, which
sounds young - I had a mate who was a huge Queen fan, and he persuaded
his dad to drive 3 of us down there.

    <googles>

OK, I *know* it was the Hippodrome, not Colston Hall, so this site
    (http://www.pcpki.com/queen/live/gigs.html - wow, what *can't* you
find on the internet) says it was May 1977, making me 14. And there's
even a set list here -
    http://www.pcpki.com/cgi-bin/setlist.cgi?q:770523

Not quite as 'wow' as I made out, but still.
    Late developer, were you?

**** me the sound of the cymbals on that's painful.

I always assumed that video (technically film - ah, the good ol' days)
was shot live, too. I was very much mistaken.

    <checks Queen discography>

I think it's probably "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy".

Comedy entries could include "Flick Of The Wrist", "Man On The Prowl",
"Pain Is So Close To Pleasure", "Innuendo"...oh, it goes on and on.

I agree. I saw the original at the cinema which sounded a lot better.
    Youtube is shit.
It was, see the later sections where the camera centres on Mason. They
added other stuff, like the scene with the setting sun.

I first heard that as the background music in a documentary [1] where
they were flying down the grand canyon - the feeling of space was
incredible even without the assistance of mind enhancing substances

So amazing and so right (wright)

    what you'd call a "moment"

[1] - I'd been working abroad and didn't know of its existence

You just caught them while they were still good then. :)
My first was probably the Edgar Broughton Band in Manchester in about 1970.
I only saw Pink Floyd 4 years later when they played DSoTM.
The only thing I remember about the gig was Echoes in quadrophonic,
    which was nice.

Not being funny(!), but would that make you about 14 at the time? Same
age (or thereabouts) as Champ and I for out first gigs.
