I thought about it, but when I got punted and my bike written off at
least his car was written off too.

    Best of luck with it.

Frankly I think that's about the worst day I've heard somebody had.

The insurance won't pay out because you didn't secure it.

Does taking the seat off count as making it unridable?

  6. My policy states "if you do not remove the keys or leave the motorcycle
unlocked when it is left, or you fail to comply with garaging and any
security requirements, we may refuse to pay any claim for theft".

So presumeably if it had been left with steering lock engaged, or a disc
lock fitted, they'd have to further consider payout?

That almost happened to me when I wrote off the GSXR. After I got back from
hospital, where I spent 5 hours for a quick prod in the ribs and a Tetanus
jab, a mate came round with a trailer, we went to the spot where the bike
was and just caught 2 pikeys trying to load it into the back of a van. After
giving them an earfull about who owned the bike, I ended up giving them £20
to take the bike back to my place (they had a tail lift, I had various,
rather painful bits about my body which would have made lifting the bike
onto our trailer virtually impossible). If I'd got there 5 minutes later,
I'd be in the same boat as you.

    me...

About ten years ago my wife and I separated and I had to move out of my
house, with what few possessions I was allowed, into a small rented
room. Then my car caught fire and later that evening my cat died. That
    was a shit day.

    You'll get over it.

Seriously, why did you do that?
Kicking the bitch out and letting *her* fend for herself seems so much more
    appealing.
If there are kids just get an Au Pair (or Mum) in to look after them.

Of course the Au Pair should fulfil certain other duties too.

Nice verse, how's the chorus go, and do you play harmonica at any point?

    nah - couple of shaped-charges 1/3-way up the wall of a medium-large
    sized dam - job done.

Or, in terms of both "car" and "flood", do what I once saw done
outside a party by attempted-gate-crashers who'd been denied entry -
threadly-threadle a hosepipe between the passenger window and clothtop
of a (nearly new[1]) Escort XR3i Cabriolet and turn on the tap, and
    then leave.

[1] this dates my partying days somewhat, I know.
