Working on the 'Priller

    Just a quick rambling whilest I sit here and make my Super Shuttle
    arrangements for this coming week.

    I spent the day after New Years working on my 'Priller. I had bought
    teflon / steel braided lines for all the hydraulic lines. That
    replaced the front brakes, rear brake and clutch.

    The lines I got were from Spiegler http://www.spieglerusa.com/ they
    make some VERY nice lines. The whole kit cost me $241.00 + tax from
    Eurosport Cycles. I didn't get any extra coloring or anything to the
    banjo bolts or the lines themselves.

    One thing I like about the Spiegler lines is that the banjo bolts are
    adjustable if you have the right tools. This was convenient as in a
    couple of cases the new lines needed minor tweaking to fit the bike
    properly.

    If you have never worked on your brakes before, then I highly
    recommend getting one of the little vac-u-suck things from the auto
    store for about $25.00. They make it really convenient to bleed the
    brakes.

    Anyway, I swapped the fronts out without too much difficulty. The
    rear was a bit tougher as I had forgotten that I needed to remove the
    caliper and get it above the master cylinder to bleed it properly. I
    was / am fighting a cold so I was tired and not thinking clearly.

    Got up this morning and re-bled the rear brake without any problems
    then went on to replace my clutch line and change the oil.

    Bike runs great and stops on a dime. I'm not sure that many people
    would be able to tell the difference between the steel braids and
    rubber lines, but if you feel your brakes are getting a bit mushy and
    you have over 10k miles on the bike you might want to consider it.
    You'll never have to replace them again! (btw - you are probably
    supposed to replace your rubber lines at the 10k mark or whenever you
    next major maintenance is - check your manual).

    Of course, the weather was 78 here and perfect for riding. Maybe
    tomorrow, before I fly off.
