After a week of stuffing around, my lovely employer finally managed to
work out how to use a fax machine properly, and provided the details I
needed to pass on to my credit union. So the finance is now approved,
and I just have to wait for the paperwork to be processed! That will
take a few days (no local branch, so paperwork needs to be done by
mail), and hopefully by this time next week I'll be taking delivery of
my nice shiny new Yamaha XVS1300! woohoo! :-D

Finance applications and the odd form to a government department are all
we use the fax machine at work for now.

Bloody nuisance they are too... we get 10 times as many spam faxes as
    real ones.

I'd turf it if the few groups still using them would get out of the
    Johno ages!

Fark the wait is just sickening isn't it?
I bet you're just finding excuse after excuse to drop by the bikeshop and
look at the bike and you've Googled up every photo and specification on it.
I also bet that your old bike just DISGUSTS you now and you cannot stand
    riding it.....
    Ohh the agonising wait.....

    Sure :)

Are you going to Wintersun this year? I've got the long weekend
available and I'll probably be heading up that way.

The agonising wait is preferable to the agonising first ride I presume..

Jo and I will collect you in Bendigo at the usual place on the Friday
morning, but we might bail out of Mildura on Sunday morning and head
home over 2 days with a overnight in Halls Gap.

    nice thread hijack btw :)

OK... coffee break at the cafe near Rays Outdoor. Time TBC closer to
the event sounds like a plan.
    Thanks... I thought so :)

If you can fax 'em back then fax a black page a few times, just ensure
that your ID is zero'ed to prevent reprisals...

I gather that most of those places are using efax systems these days so
it wouldn't waste their paper. Worth a try though :)

That's easy for you to say, you probably don't attract good luck in the
same way Clem does... :) http://tinyurl.com/42gt3a

People still use faxes that print directly onto paper?
I don't know whether we get spam faxes. Our receptionist sorts them before
    forwarding.

It just amazes me people send spam faxes in the first place .. just
seems an odd thing to do.

    And annoying as well.

We get faxes for holidays at Myrtleford, pay to be a shopper, that sort of
crap. Obviously, some prick out there, when I faxed them something, put me
onto a mailing list. I have my suspicions as to who it might've been, as I
don't fax that many companies. But what to do about it short of changing
my fax's phone number (shared line faxstream duet number on my home
    phone).

We do. We don't use the Fax much so we've never bothered changing.

I've got an efax number for my personal use though.

Having said that we've got thousands of dollars of stationary with the
existing fax number on it, is it possible to use an existing pstn phone
    number with an efax system?
Mine sorts them too... I can hear her complaining as she shreds the spam
    faxes :)
