Registered, insured, and going to be ridden on the Toy Run this
weekend by BVR (I'll have to insist on a ride report from him as
    payment!)

Nameless Boy did let me down a couple of days ago though, with a
broken throttle cable on the way to work. Reversing the on/off
throttle cables at the carbies got me to the bike shop though, and
having the throttle work the wrong way around took less getting used
    to than I thought!

We usually get 2 colour schemes, so I'd expect the blue one for sure
and either the yellow or the grey (ie. one dark and one light).
Doubtful - they're going to gouge every last penny that they can.
Although with the new (and cheap) Hyosungs on the market now it's
    possible...
Wait until about February and the dealers will be running out their
remaining 2003 models. I think Canberra Motorcycle Centre were doing
    their 2002 models for $5995 ride-away back in February-March.

A used one is a better buy though, IMHO (let somebody else deal with
    the depreciation!)

The '04 models are already on the website - do you mean what we'll get in the
way of GPXs or Kwakas generally ? From memory the two new/updated models were
the ZX10, plus the Mean Streak grows to 1600 and gets a few upgrades. As
tradition goes the GPX gets a new coat of paint (well they've been on a good
thing for 15 years now, why would they change it :). Don't think the ZZR250
even got that. ZZR12 no change I don't think. Oh and I seem to recall there's a
change on the chookie front (but I don't take any notice of them so take that
    with a grain of salt)
Unlikely - contracts tend to be signed well in advance - don't expect to see any
price drops until late 04 (assuming the dollar holds up)

OK, tried posting to another "free" news-server to get faster updates
and now don't know what happened to my message... so its back to
Google with six hours delayed postings! So if you see another response
similar to that below - ignore it!

Well, I won't hold my breath then...
Are yellow ones the 2002 or 2003 models? There are two dealers of new
Kawasakis here in Adelaide. One has none in stock the other has two
yellow GPXs ("end of year run-out")for $6490 plus onroad costs. Either
way that seems pretty steep in light of what CMC were doing though
haggling is an option. However I really want a *blue* one!
As a newbie I'm pretty wary about buying someone elses problems. Have
you seen the asking prices of GPXs here in Adelaide that are nearly
new? May as well bite the bullet and get a new one. I don't know
anyone locally who could come and look at a used one with me anyway.
Also I would keep the bike for some time, not just for one year in
order to upgrade to a bigger one. Did I rationalise that well? ;-).

Also there aren't huge numbers of used GPXs for sale in the Trading
Post, let alone relatively new ones. I've checked numbers for other
states and there are a lot more there.

I want to be patient, but I need that patience now! ;-).

    Cheers,
    Nicholas

    Not on www.kawasaki.com.au.

There they still refer to the 2003 GPX. I think the American site was
only *just* updated. The 2003 model GPX is blue with a bit of yellow,
while the new 2004 one is blue with grey (plus other colours over
    there).

    - do you mean what we'll get in the
I believe they are no longer selling the Super Sherpa in the US.
However it will still be sold here, in Canada and elsewhere. I find it
interesting that in 2003 the Super Sherpa listed for US$1000 more than
the GPX/Ninja in the USA, yet here the price relationship is reversed!
The Aussie dollar is forcast to go past US$0.77. But I don't think I
    can wait a year :) :).

    Cheers,
    Nicholas

Do they ? I can't find any date reference in the GPX section
Just because that's the American colour scheme for 04 don't assume that's what
we'll get in 04. On the other hand the 04 Kwaka glossy I got from the motorshow
has a blue and grey GPX in it.
    Supply and demand.
Dream on. Won't happen this year for more than a day or two (and I'll be very
happy to be proven wrong on that), the RBA will start selling Aussies if it gets
that high - natural rate unless there's any major changes in our economic make
up and that of our major trading partners is circa 70c US. The RBA made plenty
of money buying Aussies at 5x c US when it bottomed, and they've made plenty of
money last time we bounced up into the high 70s.

The Aussie has about the 5th highest volume of trades of any currency despite th
e fact that we're about the 25th or 30th economy by size. This means a lot of
speculation equals greater volatility - short term.
