Have had an intermittent fault on the GS650 single. Despite it being
the cheap non ABS version the ABS fault light would come on for no
rhyme or reason. Had a look around the bike but could find nothing
obvious. As life was a bit hectic when the chain and sprockets needed
changing a couple of weeks later I threw the bike at a dealer and
asked them to check out the fault on the ABS light at the same time.

End of the day having had no sharp intake of breath conversation on
the phone I turned up to collect the bike. Along with the bill I was
presented with a plastic snap lock bag containing a dead baby field
mouse. Seems in the cold weather it had got in to the garage and
snuggled up in the wiring at the back of the dash and made a nest .
This involved some chewing of the wiring. It probably died of heart
failure at the shock of the bike firing up. Cost me £60 for a new
section of wiring loom but by the look of the melted mess a fire was
    not far off.

As I left with a "bet you don't get many of these" The retort was
"fourth bike this year with mouse damage". They are getting us back
    guys!

  2. That happened to my ex Ian's first bike. He'd not long bought it from
someone at work who was getting rid of it cos they didn't ride it
much, when it went iffy. He had to rewire a a huge amount of it -
the mouse had built a nest in it from some old carpet too. He had to
clear out carpet and seeds. I used to have some pictures of the
    carnage somewhere.

  3. Didn't Pip (or someone) have a mouse set up residence in their bike's
    airbox? I recall pictures.
