Went past a speed camera on the A30 in my cage about 10 days ago. 70mph
limit. Got flashed and I reckon I was doing circa 85. I have been waiting
for the NIP - and today what I got in the post was...........a warning but
no NIP. I get to keep my clean licence. What a counties they are.

The only time I've heard of people receiving warning letters is when they
introduced the SPECS cameras for the tunnel before/after the Tamar Bridge,
enforcing the 30mph limit. A lot of locals were caught out and were sent
    a 1 time warning.

The A30 is now rife with mobile cameras. Gone are the days of using it
for testing out the top end of one's new wheels.

    Ahhh, happy days.

The M45 from the M6 to Rugby is still good.
It starts with a downhill stretch so you can get up to speed quicker,
then you're flat on the tank with your feet on the passenger pegs for 5 miles.

I used to use the A41, Watford to Aylesbury for my WID,M[1] runs.

Not sure what it's like these days, mind.

The M69 probably isn't now. I'll know in another 7 days or so.

It never was. I was nicked there a couple of times in about 1990.
And you can keep the noise down as you drive past my house.

Surely you mean the M45 from the M1 to Dunchurch and Vice Versa? You surely
can't mean the A46/A45? Even slow coaches like me have been nicked on the
    A46.

If you do mean the M45, then the bends at the M1 end (either way) are a test
of bottle for those of us, like me, who have no talent. It's a very fast
double apex left from the M1 that is a joy on the rare occassion that I get
it right. There is the odd 'dip' to liven things up and test your steering
    damper too.

Even the police go fast on that road. I recall one late winter blast back
home from a weekend down south. I encountered sleety rain on the M1 which
was progressively getting more wintry as I headed north. I was only wearing
summer gloves with liners and my fingers were already getting cold and wet
as I kept having to clear wet snow from my visor. The traffic on the M1 was
getting slower as my need to go faster got more urgent. I saw the turn off
to the M45. Blinkered and ignoring all else, I nailed it down an empty lane
1 only to see a police car pull over in front of me. Slithering back to the
legal limit, I groaned as the patrol car pulled onto the M45 ahead of me.
Then I saw the back end of the car squat and despite a subsequent steady
100-120, I never saw it again. I just got back to Kenilworth as all the
roads turned white and I lost the last of the feeling in my fingers. It's
    grim up in the Midlands.

I do need to get a blog.

Yes. I meant the M45 from the M1 to Dunchurch.
I had fun once in the car heading east on that bend.
A gritting lorry had dumped a big pile in the shadow under a bridge
where it wasn't easily visible until too late at DoD nominal. TFF4WD!
I guess the speed limit is there for a reason....

Is it illegal to test a CG125 for maximum speed on a motorway?
Does it count as racing if two of you do it together?
We were talking about machines with top speeds of 65mph, weren't we?

Well my FS1E used to go 98mph, but I only saw that on private roads. On
public roads it strangely only managed 42.05 downhill with a following
wind. Until a piece fell off the piston.

  15. Indeed, no junctions and a clear view, it there's nothing behind you
at the start you're clear all the way.

    <blog>

My MZ 125 would do 65 on a good day. There weren't many good days. Then top
gear broke. Then I had to thrash it mercilessly.

The front brake was a lot better at braking than the front tyre was at
    gripping.

    The End.
