With under seat exhaust why no proper panniers?

Sorry, I tend to spend a *long* time choosing things, you'll have to
put up with me a while longer.

I don't think that exists - the nearest you'll get will be the ZX12R or the
    'Busa.

Well get a fucking gixxer thou then. Loads of us use them as
long-distance tourers, with loadsa luggage etc., as you've already
    been told.

You remind me of my wife (or most other women, TBH) who, when
presented with a menu, or any other set of choices, will nearly always
wish for something that's not on it.

Darsy, have you been giving lessons?

    No it's not.

    For '06, the
Any links with more information on this? Considering they've had the best
part of four years to "smooth it out" I find it a bit.. unlikely.

You want to go shopping like me.

BM, "How fast does that Gixxer go?"

    Shop man, "Very, sir."

BM, "Can I have it today?

    Shop Man, "Yes""

    BM, "I'll take it..."

    Black Mike says...
Me buying my Gixer at breakfast last BOSM :

Me: I'd love a Gixer thou

Hog: You can have mine for £XXXX

    Me: Really?

    Hog: Yes

Me: Hang on...<leans across breakfast table>

Me: Bee, want to buy my 9R?

    Beelzebub: How much?

Me: £XXXX with all the bits

    Bee: Ok, I'll have it.

    <I turn to Hog>

Me: Ok then <offers hand to shake>.

I like things kept nice and simple.

Indeed - my R6 was heavily toured on.
I'm fairly sure I've seen hard luggage systems for the R6.

V-Tec is a bit on/off - yes it improves the power, but it does it in a way
other bikes, say the GSX-R, do without the "step" effect.

It also absolutely _drinks_ fuel if you're pushing on it a bit - basically
it's a very fancy system that doesn't seem to achieve many positives.

800cc engine that makes less power than a GSX-R600 and weights 30% more
without making a huge amount more torque.

Okay the one I had for a few weeks _might_ have been a lemon but my
experiences match with others that i have read/seen.

The brakes were superb - the engine was just disapponting.

I also just couldn't believe it costs as much as it does - the finish isn't
    _that_ much better.

Luggage looks better on a blackbird than on a 12R. The blackbird is a
sports tourer with no supersports pretensions, whereas the 12R is a
scaled up sports bike. Luggage looks toilet on these.

Coming from you[1] that means it _must_ be expensive...

[1] how much were those speakers etc? :)

Speakers? 'undred quid or so, iirc.

Still, faced with a prospect of a new pannier for the big red bus,
    they look a bargain.
