With under seat exhaust why no proper panniers?

Now that a couple of the latest supersports have under seat exhaust
pipes why is it so difficult to provide proper pannier mounting points
on them for quick attach/detach of panniers.

Or is someone, somewhere developing such a thing?

Because they are sports bikes. Mounting points spoil the lines and "add
    weight".

And the under seat exhausts still burn things.

IMO, it really does sound like you need something like a
Blackbird/Hayabusa/|ZX12R/ZZR rather than an out and out sports bike.

A ZX12R would be perfect, but you can't get luggage for it!

I am seriously looking at the Blackbird and ZZR1200 but I wish they
    were a *bit* lighter.

    Ha ha! :)

If someone made something between the supersports and the rather 'long
in the tooth' Blackbird/ZZR1200 it would fill the bill perfectly for
me. However there's nothing there that I can see so I'm tossing up
    between:-
Relatively old technology and heavy ZZR1200 or Blackbird for which
I can get sensible luggage etc.

New and light like R1, Gixxer, Fireblade for which there's no
    sensible luggage.

The supersports weigh something like 50 or 60kg less than the ZZR1200
for example so there's a big difference there. Surely there's a
market for something 'in between' weighing around 190-200kg.

New (1050) Sprint ST? 210kg dry (so still a little overweight for you
    perhaps).

I'm sure MCN said it would be out 2006 - but then no surprise.

Honda must be kicking themselves a little as the ST is showing up the VFR
for what it is - a competant, but vastly overpriced, underpowered
    (comparitively), overly complex bike.

And if that continues for another year they may never get the VFR buyers
    back.

The ZZR1400 looks interesting too... :)

I tried one last weekend for a couple of hours, it was quite nice (I
posted a mini review here), it may well be what I choose but I'm
wondering if there's something just a little more exciting but with
    luggage available.

BMW K1200S if you've got money to burn.

Or buy a CG125 and wait for the ZZR1400 to come out.

.... but that's where the pillion sits isn't it? Surely my luggage
won't weigh as much as a pillion.
Strangely you can get panniers for the Hayabusa, Hepco and Becker make
    pannier frames for the Hayabusa.
    Yes, that's probably what I want (currently have a VFR750F-T), but I
don't really want to wait that long.

So maybe it's a Triumph ST for me.

How would you define "a little more exciting"?

    wt(Luggage+pillion) > wt(pillion)
Not strange at all. Could it perhaps be that they beefed the subframes
up a bit when they noticed the problem?
FFS. That's what you've been saying for two weeks now. Just fucking
    get on with it.

Exactly, but why (like the ZZR1200) don't they sell it any more?

.... and you can't get panniers for it either.

Only if someone will sell me a new VFR without the nasties on the
current VFR800 (funny engine and not enough oomph).

It seems I'll be buying an ST Sport doesn't it, the best VFR replacement
    there is.

    much like it!).
