I'm trying to find a pikey way for telephoning wirelessly using MSN or
    Skype.

I thought that a bluetooth earpiece might work and bought one from
Maplin - Southwing SH305 on special offer at 11 quid ATM, but although
the computer can see the earpiece, I can't get it to recognise it as a
    microphone / speaker device

Am I missing something, or am I on a hiding to nowhere ?

any suggestions for an alternative solution ?

    Doesn't that cost though ?

basically Yullie can quite easily spend a couple of hours a day talking
to her sister in Belgium using MSN on her laptop

A wireless headset connection to the pc is what I'm looking for

Yes, it should work fine, for certain values of fine.
    Right drivers?

Depends. Kills the phone battery, though.

Yeah - nothing useful on the southwing website for the 305, I looked
    earlier

So, I need to take it back and get a less pikey earpiece then

Could be, or check your bluetooth setup to see if you are using it as a
    headset or just speakers.

Could also be the Bluetooth dongle being used - not all support
    headsets.

If you're MSNing and both are running windows, then just get webcams with
built in microphones (I recommend the Microsoft VX3000 (or something like
that model number)) and use the 'video call' feature.

Yeah, got a webcam with mic

but the idea is for her to be able to walk around, cook whatever wimmin
do etc without dropping a word

Finally managed to get it to recognise it as mic and speakers on my
machine , but so far can't get any volume control. This could be because
of the lack of audio devices on this computer, tomorrow is another day
