A mate of mine just bought a VN800. I'm trying very hard and learning slowly
not to automatically ridicule ridiculous looking bikes.

Sometimes it just gets too much.

you may have a tad of trouble hatz
They are 49cc which in fact fulfills the 50cc requirement and hence
    should be registered.
If you are caught riding the thing on the streets you could get fined
and even then if you have an accident tac may not look too kindly upon you.
Remember most scooters in that category have to be registered and are
    speed limited to 50 kmh.
Have to say it's the funkiest "scooter" I have seen.

    Seems to follow me :))
I will correct you,the VicRoads regulations about motorised-bikes is
<200watts [as in 1/4HP] these are considered a bike and do not have to have
any rego. or license for the rider.Just as per a normal-bike [wear a
helmet, lights for night, stay off the footpaths etc etc]

Speed does NOT have any thing to do with it ,as has engine cc size only ,
200watt output is the sticking issue

The problem is that these are not very "bike looking" and also are putting
out 1.2kW as in 1200watts which is WAY over the limit by a factor of 6 and
so they would have to have rego [and a m/c license but not in S.A or Qld.]
which would also mean a compliance plate,RWC etc etc
Yes,as many have and a good size fine too
    you.

Correct because it does not TAC insurance either
Anything over 200watts has to be registered and the rider licensed.Once
again VicRoads are not concerned about speed or engine size only output.
They are a toy,the price will fall as it does because the Chinese supply
anybody and they are well on the way to being banned

Speaking of Wintersun transport... we caught some bloke from Tarago on a CT90
trying to bring his own amenities with him to the rally.
